Drawing My Way

3 min readMay 1, 2025

My path to working as a graphic recorder that began back in primary school as a way of navigating with dyslexia and neurodivergence.

So, I’ve been freelancing as a graphic recorder (aka live illustrator or sketchnoter or visual notetaker) for 15 years now. I love this work helping to visualise peoples discussions and ideas live at workshops, meetings and conferences. And I’m always open to new clients and great projects to collaborate on.

People regularly ask how I got into it, and it’s actually quite a long story that started in childhood. This comic explores the experience. Beginning with my struggles in primary school, gaining more confidence in high school, burnout, overwhelm and adult diagnosis, and touches on how I work today.
