River of Time
A little zine about being here now
“River of Time” is a little analogue zine I made to remind myself to be here now, with what is. Doing what I can. Because this is it.
On this mortal coil, in the river of time, things emerge and pass away. There are seasons. It’s how it is and it’s also hard.
I’m thinking about the crises, loss, grief, injustice and suffering all around. I’ve been unwell and have needed to pause to rest. Slowness intensifies existential thoughts for me. It’s all too easy to feel at the mercy of things outside your control, to focus on loss and hopelessness. But radical responsibility can be a useful spark to prompt “what can I do here now with that still remains and with what agency and capacity I have?” It’s often small but it’s something.
At present my capacity is diminished. There is something strange and painful happening with my hands and body and I’ve felt bone tired and achey for a month — which I’ve tried to push through and made worse.
So for now low friction, quick creative materials are my friends. Thank goodness for juicy brush pens and paper.
